Abuse: The Warning Signs
- Partner is overly possessive and extremely jealous; may accuse you of flirting, calls to check on you often and insists on knowing where you are or where you are going.
- Partner seems to lack own interests and is overly dependent on relationship.
- Partner discourages your own outside interests and friend ships, and attempts to isolate you from family and friends.
- Partner is overly critical, finding fault with your dress, talents and conduct.
- Partner has poor communication skills and refuses or is unable to settle differences with words.
- Partner's abuse increases with the use of alcohol or drugs.
- Partner tries to sabotage your work or school efforts, possibly forcing or convincing you to quit against your wishes.
- Partner tries to control the money and decisions.
